Figue de Bourg
The legend says that the young King Louix XIV was walking among the gardens of Bourg sur Gironde in 1650, when he stopped by a tree and wanted to pick a fig. But he was too small to reach the fruit and a priest helped him cacth it….But by that time, touching a king was considered as a crime. Fortunatly her mother the Queen, Anne of Austria, gave him the royal pardon. To thank her, the inhabitants of Bourg planted lots of fig Trees in the village. In the 20th century, the baker Daniel Marith created the specialty Figue de Bourg.
